Search on Name and Synonym
In this option the list of synonyms (left column) and substance names (right column) is presented. Default the list of synonyms is ordered aphabetically.
Scrolling through the list
By placing the cursor anywhere in the list, it gives focus to a substance. In this way the substance is selected and the information about available OEL's en Sampling Methods is to be viewed. It is also possible to scroll through the list. The selected substance changes accordingly
Search via text box
Type in the first character of the substance name/synonym in the text box "Search on synonym" (on the right side of the frame). The arrow in the most left column moves to the first substance that complies with the typed-in character. Refine your search by adding more characters to the text box. Continuing this way you "zoom in" to the substance you are looking for.
Another way of using the text box "Search on synonym" is the use of the magnifying glass. Clicking on the magnifying glass, on the right side of this text box, gives a list of all the substances that comply with the search parameter (filter on basis of the search parameter). Clicking again ("deselecting" this button) on the magnifying glass returns to the previous situation. This feature is the most of use after typing in a set of characters (f.i. "butyl" gives all substances with "butyl" anywhere in the name).
